Question:

What is the CTS?

Answer:

The CTS system is a Mixed Martial Art designed for the street and survival using a heavy focus on weapons with an emphasis on tactical counter offense. The Counterpoint Tactical System includes elements of Boxing, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, Doce Pares Eskrima, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Silat and Gung Fu. We use all ranges of survival and fighting including weapons, (Knives, Sticks, and Guns), kicking, striking, trapping, stand-up grappling, and groundfighting.

Question:

What is the difference between what your school teaches and;

  • Tae Kwon Do/Sport Karate: Tae Kwon Do, in our opinion is primarily a sport  or sport karate(it is an Olympic sport). It focuses on strikes, and kicks to score quick points. A lot of time is spent on simple Katas and other forms with no real work on self defense. Tae Kwon Do is entirely a stand up very controlled sport, and they do not practice any type of ground defense/offence or serious weapons survival.

Answer:

Our Programs teach and drills extensive strikes (kicks, knees, punches, elbows), weapons, takedowns, takedown defense, ground fighting from the top, and bottom. We learn, drill, and spar in as close to a real street situation as safely possible. Everything we learn and drill is dedicated to staying safe if ever attacked. And we are very aware of the fact that even with great techniques and skill, physical conditioning, and strength are very important factors in ensuring a positive outcome in a life threatening street situation, so we encourage conditioning drills and exercise to ensure our students work at getting into fighting shape.

Question:

What ages do you teach?

Answer:

We have let some children start our classes as young as 5 while having people of retirement age in our adult programs. We believe the martial arts is for everyone regardless of age or physical condition and we gladly tailor our program to your situation.

Question:

What about your kids classes?

Answer:

Our Youth Karate Program uses the martial arts in a more traditional structure as a vehicle to teach a strong foundation in essential character qualities like courtesy, respect, and discipline. Our programs are designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to focus and follow directions all the while they are learning how to defend themselves. With a strong focus on self defense and survival our program is a tremendous asset to any youth.

Question:

Will my child start beating up other kids?

Answer:

No. We spend a lot of time teaching our students (adults as well as kids) that unless they are in danger of being physically harmed, fighting is absolutely prohibited. We teach the appropriate time to defend oneself, or a loved one, and when to walk away. In our experience, most people (kids and adults) get so much self confidence by training, and getting good at martial arts, that they get much more peaceful, and they don't feel they have anything to prove by fighting. We also teach options to fighting, and how to walk away from a fight while still keeping your dignity (which makes you the winner).

Question:

How much are classes? Are there contracts?

Answer:

We have many different programs that start as low as $45 per month. If you have multiple family members that want to train, you will be hard pressed to find more conducive financial setups than our school has. We have discounts that we offer for agreements and programs that offer month to month options with NO CONTRACTS if this is what suits you and your family.
